Our trip to Vegas has exploded into a dazzling spectacular of every possible event we can make it to. Last night we saw Bette MIdler and who’s making more money busting her 60 year old ass on that stage than the God. There were showgirls in sequins, confetti finishes, and even some trademark liberal Bette humor.
Before beginning her classic “Wind Beneath My Wings” Bette paused, sat down on the stage with only a spotlight on her, and she said to the us her audience…her fans….
“I want to take a moment to stop (gasp) (gasp) and just thank you all for a minute (classic Bette hand pans the audience). I know times are tough out there and these tickets aren’t cheap…but you’ve always given me and MY FAMILY a life I only dreamed of. So I want to say thank you for coming. From me and my family”
Ohhhh you, you, you (pointing directly at me I’m sure) you are the wind beneath Bette’s wings.
After thirty years of the ups and downs, the 70’s and the 90’s, Bette never changed her ferocious stage performance, they just found a few inventive ways to have her sing while sitting down.
