They look alike but can he pull off the high notes, the glamour, and the hair that is Queen?
Alex was thrilled to hear that they are finally making a biopic about his idol Freddy Mercury, but getting Sacha Baron Cohen for the part made us a bit confused. He must be able to sing really well, since he is also starring in the new Tim Burton film, Sweeny Todd with Johnny Depp. even Alex can’t hit all of Freddy’s notes in the car.
Sacha Baron Cohen aka Borat has signed on to play late Freddie Mercury in a biopic about the Queen lead singer. Reportedly, Sacha beat out Johnny Depp for the role. The film will chronicle Freddie’s rise to fame and his hard partying up to his death in 1991 due to complications from AIDS.
A source said, “Film makers are working flat out to get the best possible script. Sacha loves the idea he can get away with playing Freddie after modeling Borat’s look on him.” -dlisted.com
If Sacha’s able to pull this off, we’re predicting that he’ll be up for an oscar in 2008.
