Cazwell

Thank God I can finally replace Crappy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ on my playlist with something a little more sticky. Leave This house DEMON!

The best gay rapper on the planet, Cazwell, wants us to not only lick his popsicle but he’s giving it away for free download! What a whore… I love him…I must bounce now.

New Video: Kelis -

Here is the the newest video from Kelis for her single, ’4th of July’. It’s a fun video for a Wednesday afternoon and the drag outfits are fun… the song gets a bit repetative but would work at the clubs.

La Roux Mixtape Download Feat. Major Lazer -Totes Free"

It’s free! It’s here! It’s La Roux and Major Lazer spinning some remixes of her capital album.

It crashed the site that was offering it illegally because La Roux wants you to go to her site and get on her mailing list for these tunes. Seems fair, this mixtape makes me wanna hump the floor. I could throw an entire Gay Pride bunch on this.

It’s free music bitches.

Janelle Monae

Listen To: Locked Inside

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Disclaimer: Lynn wasn’t jumping out of his desk chair like I was.

I waited for two years for Metropolis Suites 2 & 3 to come out and it was jaw droppingly beautiful. I pressed play and stayed with Janelle on her journey through Metropolis for the entire 64 minutes running time. Which I believe is the only way to listen to the album the first time through.

Listen to this album brought back when I was in high school. When I heard Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation mixed with Micahel Jackson, some Hip Hopera, and even a dash of Judy Garland thrown in there. Janelle speaks with the same cool wisdom and bumps with electronica beats from another time that I know we’ll all catch up with in a year or two.

I feel like “Oh Mercy” will be the breakout hit, I love Locked Inside, and “Come Alive” is screaming for a “So You Think You Can Dance Performance” choreographed by the great Wade Robinson. Which also just happened to be the one song I thought about fast forwarding.

Monáe spent an extra year composing and fine-tuning it. She recorded in spots around the world including Moscow, Prague and Istanbul, and even mined her dreams. “I would get up in the middle of the night and record everything I could remember on my iPhone, whether it was a full song or a melody or a character,” she said. “I knew that if I kept myself open and available, and was patient, that all these ideas would come to me.”

Released TODAY May-18-2010, on Wondaland Arts Society/Bad Boy Records.
The album is a combination of the suites II and III of “Metropolis”, a conceptual series created by Monáe.

Seroously Rag Maggers, I listened to the whole thing with no TV and no distractions. Personally I think she could have just left off the last song, but maybe it’lll grow on me. It’s dramatic, and futuristic, and retro, it’s a masterpiece of something unexpected.

And then… the next song on my playlist had me launched into Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”. UGH, I hate that I like this song. Ok I’m squinting in pain while I dance at my desk. I can’t …..fight ….it!

But back to Janelle, she’s everything that’s right about music today, and she embodies all the artist I wish would sell more records.

Sound Off: She & Him Vs. Broken Bells

We need you to help us solve a marital dispute.

Alex is loving ‘She & Him: Vol 2′ the melancholy group lead by actress Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward. Too bad Lynn calls it ‘Lesbian music’ and demands Alex puts on headphones to go to his “Lilith Fair” alone every morning. Does this sound lesbian to you?

Lynn is loving Broken Bells, the alternative electronic group that started when the two musicians learned they both loved each other’s work.

Vote for your favorite and that’s what we’ll listen to.

One album we’re not fighting over is the new Snoop album, “More Malice“. Have you heard?

We are soooo gangsta, so gangsta!

Peaches New Video: Billionaire

After watching this freak fest video courtesy of Canadian electro pop performer and bad make up loving Peaches you’re going to feel like your prescriptions need to be refilled. I do. The track, not likely to be heard in church, is titled, ‘Billionaire‘ and the chorus goes something like:

“I’m going to f**k you like a millionaire.”

How sweet and godly! Sing A Long Kids! The vibrant video takes you deep into the psychedelic realm of Dorthy and the Wizard of Oz. I don’t recall Dorthy being a smoker but according to this video…

Watch and you’ll be closer to the end of your work day. Oh, and you might like the tunes…

Now Hear This - St. Vincent - Actor Out Of Work

rap_stvincent_actor_140

A: I love to discover and download music, and the best part is sharing my treasures with you, rag magers. Now, I think I have an eclectic taste in music, but Annie Clark, (AKA St Vincent steps beyond the boundries of any “label” I could put on the singer/songwritter. She’s an all around talent that baffles you with her lyrics and genres of music that she crashes together.

If I had to compare her entire album to an artist I would say it’s Fiest, Fiona, and Bjork all rolled into one with some heavy guitar for the boys in the back.

AKA my dream come true, but for the masses her first single “Actor Out Of Work”, electro-pop punk song grabbed my attention and her talent kept me around for more.

the eleven songs on Actor throb with sonic invention and eclecticism, written and expertly arranged by Clark. -BBC

Listen to more St. Vincent and see her tour dates!!
