A: My eyes scanned each over priced ad, and bold headline as I flipped through the newest Details Magazine, with Eric Bana giving us his stern serious face on the cover. I love Eric Bana so I thought to myself, let’s get to the good stuff, and just peruse the magazine.
My thumb flicked through the last thick back cover of the magazine and suddenly it was over in less than 1 minute. Case in point, the Details site is far more interesting, you get video, links to buy things, and it’s free! You won’t get the Eric Bana interview, but just FYI he likes to work on the same car with his friends for years and bond. BFD.
My sweet friend David signed us up for the $8 (yes $8) a year subscription and I’m grateful he did or else I would never have had my epiphany/idea for my opinon blog.
This is the last generation of children that will remember printer magazines.
I don’t know one kid over the age of 18, that has a membership to more than 1-2 magazines. Even Teen Bob produces lesser quality pictures of Zac Efron shirtless than my Mac computer can for my excitable cousin Mariah. It’s not a bad thing!! They’ll release those yearly collectable editions here and there so you can own the pictures you gawked at on the internet, but you process information so quickly now you forget! But with ads sales down 25% and circulation down even more the future of magazines has turned from pages to page views.
There’s a media revolution happening everyday on your personal computer, and you’re a part of it, and we the people can make all our news entertaining again.
