This is craziness! TV talk goddess, Oprah Winfrey just announced this morning that she recently discovered she had a half sister she never knew about. It was such a secret that even Oprah didn’t know it… and she is all knowing, godlike. Oprah’s new sister, Patricia, lives in Milwaukee currently. She appeared on Oprah’s show today…
“I was given some news that literally shook me to my core, I thought I’d seen it all. But this, my friends, is the miracle of all miracles.”
She had been kept a secret by Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, who put her up for adoption shortly after her birth in 1963.
“For the most part, my life has been an open book, I thought nothing could surprise me but I was wrong.”
Appearing on the show, Patricia spoke about her childhood and her time spent in foster care. She was a single mother by 17 and had a second child six years later.
On Thanksgiving, Winfrey and longtime partner Stedman Graham drove to Milwaukee to meet Patricia.
A tearful Winfrey expressed admiration and gratitude toward her half sister on the show, saying she was moved that Patricia kept their family connection a secret for so long while so many others have betrayed her since she became famous.
“She never once thought to go to the press,” Winfrey said. “She never once thought to sell this story.”
Strangely enough, Winfrey also had another half sister named Patricia, who died in 2003. The talk show host said she placed her in rehab twice, but she was unable to overcome her struggle with drug abuse.
“For me, you are Pat on her very best day,” Winfrey said to her new sibling. “You are who she wanted to be without the drugs.”
