Could Chris Rock be a total PLAGERIST!?
I’m really excited to see Chris’ new documentary, but Regina Kimbell was a little upset when she learned Chris Rock was releasing ‘Good Hair’ because she showed him her film in 2005 called Nappy Roots.
Kimbell claims that she showed her film – which won the Pan African Film Festival’s best documentary award in 2007 – to Rock on the set of his TV series “Everyone Hates Chris” that same year.Rock’s movie delves into the same topics, but takes a celebrity angle that Kimbell’s documentary does not cover. Maya Angelou, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Ice-T, Eve and Kerry Washington all speak to Rock about their own hair-y situations
Rock’s rep and Kimbell’s lawyer did not respond to calls for comment by press time.
Just pay her the 5 million for the “inspiration” and release the film to the masses.

But Chris is fighting back saying to the press his work is a:
“hybrid documentary and a comedy (a ‘docu-comedy’)” that “does not focus on the history of black hair care,”
While he acknowledges meeting Kimbell at a private screening of her film at Paramount Studios, he says, “It was one of several documentaries we saw on black hair.” He even name-checks Tyra Banks, saying she gave him a book on black hair.
OK, screw the inspiration money, Rock is right, and everyone in Hollywood knows…Hollywood has no original ideas.
Besides, Regina’s documentary sounds boring.
