Guess who won’t be getting Married at their Uncle’s mansion in on the water in Maiiiine? Maine voters just took away our big gay family wedding on the Atlantic!
Judging by these numbers it looks like we have to wait two more years. A few more Modern Family episodes, cycles of Top Model, along with a sprinkling of young voters and Maine Will Marry. We’re not worried. We waited years to come out of the closet we cn wait for this.
Said Rev. Bob Emrich of Palmyra: “God has given us this victory and it is very important for us to recognize that he is the one who put the energy into this campaign. So let’s not be so arrogant to forget this. It’s very appropriate to pause for a moment of prayer.”
Wait Rev. Bob what about all of the volunteers and community leaders who put in their time on the GAY side. Did God not put energy in our campaign? Our friend, and good gay neighbor Brandon Brawner has been in Maine for weeks at the telephone banks leading the HRC’s fight for equal rights. He took two weeks off from work and stayed in Maine on his own dime to raise awareness. Brandon, we want you to look at how close these numbers are and know that you made a difference.
Conservative group leader Frank Schubert said, “The institution of marriage has been preserved in Maine and across the nation”, but we think the marriage debate shows a nation split down the middle on equal rights for all.
