We Love Ladyhawke”

“I wanted to make music that could put a smile on peoples faces and give them a feeling of nostalgia even though they may be hearing my songs for the first time. I love how music evokes memories of a certain time, I wanted to see if I could find a method of songwriting that would evoke those feelings from me on writing the song and then on the individual when listening to it for the first time.”

Yeah we get it, she’s not new and neither is our favorite song “Paris Is Burning”, but she’s gifted and probably new to you. When we discovered Ladyhawke four words came to mind…

“neuvo 80′s done right”

We missed the boat on Ladyhawke because the album came out last year, but we’ve made it up to her by not turning her off for a month. Our neighbors don’t seem to be such fans. Luckily for you who don’t know of her work, here’s the entire album mashed up into one beautiful tribute.

I’m a big fan of Ladyhawke. “neuvo 80’s done right” is a perfect description of her sound. My personal favorite track is Magic. I heard it one day on a local radio station here in Seattle and thought, “How did I miss this track in the 80s?” Other groups from “down under” you guys might like are The Presets and Cut Copy. Similar vein of 80s inspired fun.

BTW – glad that you kids ended up on Adam Carolla’s podcast (of course, he’d probably hate Ladyhawke and rant on about how everyone should listen to John Hiatt). I miss hearing you on his radio show.
